YOUR hands…

….make the difference.  You know what to hold on to, what to reach for, and what to give as a gift. Here at Ekar your hands will create connections, grow food and friends, nourish those in need as well as yourself,  and repair the environment. Experienced gardeners or those looking to know more are warmly invited.

We host regular weekly volunteer days at Ekar, as well as special volunteer build-day events (which are really skills-building opportunities), throughout the season. We also have a variety of volunteer opportunities for people interested in learning more about working in the non-profit, food and environmental justice areas.

Farm Volunteer Opportunities

Every Sunday from 1pm - 3pm, May 12 - Oct 5. Spaces limited, so please do sign up!  Book your time here.
Every Thursday from 10am-12pm - Harvest.  June 13 - October 11. Spaces limited, sign up early and often! If you have other times you’d like to come out, email jen@ekarfarm.org for an appointment.

Volunteers must be 11 or older, and if under 18 a parent or guardian must be present.

Group Volunteer Events

Groups from schools, summer camps, and offices are always welcome at Ekar Farm. Spending a morning working and learning together offers valuable team building experience while making a difference in the community. We can typically accommodate group sizes of up to 25 people for 2-3 hours for a suggested fee of $5/person. To request and schedule a group volunteer event, please contact Farm and Education manager jen@ekarfarm.org with your preferred dates and times.

Before coming out to the farm:

  1. Please be ready for the day’s weather and bring a water bottle, gloves, hat, sunscreen, sturdy shoes (no flip flops please), snacks, and friends with you to the farm!

  2. In order to get volunteer updates throughout the year, please follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram and sign up for our email list, too!

Additional Volunteer Opportunities

If you’re interested in more than the volunteer opportunities in the field, we always have opportunities for people who want to help grow our organization. We are currently most in need of the following skills sets and/or experience:

  • Grant writing

  • Fundraising event coordination

  • New: Board memberships will open up this summer. If you are interested, contact sue.salinger@hazon.org
